Google Cloud will impact Midmarket IT Strategies

Changes in the technology are the nature of the industry and are especially notable as tools and software continue to evolve to better serve customers and clients. Recently Google announced Google Cloud and a rebranding of their business suite as well. With the new names come a several improvements and a rededication to customer service. Here is a brief overview of that these changes entail and what this means for you as a business customer.

 

About Google Cloud

 

Google Cloud is the new name of Google’s cloud based applications and service products. It refers to not only Google’s G Suite (formerly known as Google Apps For Work) but also the related application APIs, API enterprise maps for development, and all cloud based platforms Google produces such as Android phones, Chromebooks, and tablets. This overarching unification of software and development across all platforms allows for a unified user experience and Google also assured clients that they can meet any SLA needs or price points. This new unified approach is highly versatile and can be used by one person businesses, mid sized businesses, and even huge global corporations.

 

Google Apps For Work Are Now G Suite Apps

 

Google’s well known Google App For Work also received a new name, G Suite. It will still contain the same software you have used before such as Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, and more.

 

Google is doing more than just a rebranding.  Improvements announced for G Suite include:

  • Quick Access: this places your most important files on a quick launch menu right when you open Google Drive. This cuts down on time used locating specific files. Files are automatically chosen based on several key factors (meetings, times accessed, coworker interaction, and so on) further saving time and work.

  • Scheduling Improvements: Calendar now automatically suggest meeting times based on when selected participants are free and rooms based on past behavior.

  • Smarter Spreadsheets: now under the explore menu in Sheets you can ask a question related to a needed result and automatically receive the proper formula or an answer.

  • Smarter Docs: the explore option also improves document writing. When selected it automatically pulls related data and articles from the internet based on what has already been written. Plus you can also search other documents stored on Google Drive without leaving your existing document.

  • Smarter Presentations: lastly, explore allows you to access a variety of layout designs when working in Slides greatly reducing the time needed for formatting.

  • Google Drive Improvements: the addition of Team Drives allows you you to create team focused cloud storage drives that control their access levels on the basis of the team instead of an individual. Once added a new group member gains access to all the drive’s material and can then freely interact with it. Removing from the group just as easily removes their access when needed without affecting any previously done work. 

  • Improvements to Google Meetings: through Google Hangouts meetings are far easier to manage. You can invite people to meetings across a variety of devices without the need for data, an internet connection, or even account. Simply set up the meeting and a link and phone number are automatically sent. Screen sharing ability and full Calendar integration also enhance the meeting experience.

 

There's A New Focus On Customer Service in the Google Cloud

 

Aside from software changes Google has also focused on improving customer service as it relates to engineering. Because moving your company to cloud based software is an involved process Google employs engineers in various areas to assist in this. Engineering specialist to aid your company in data migration include site reliability engineers, product engineers, customer reliability engineers, and customer engineers. The overarching theme of Google’s approach to customer service is teamwork and working together to create a better product and business relationship.
